Would you mind sharing the process of getting the PPF from your old employer in India? i.e. what kind of forms do I need to request? What kind of documentation is needed etc?
I closed my PPF account twice and never paid a single paisa. The second one I closed when I was in US and got the forms here through my old employer and Signed and send those form back to that employer , they filed it, Don'y know if they attached "NOC" but I got all of my money (close to INR80K) in 2 or 3 weeks at my home address in India.
I guess no one needs to pay money for to PPF in any state all you need tyo do is follow the proper instructions, It's as good as in any bank.

Note that after marriage, the GC for spouse needs to be filed under FB category which has a backlog of 4-5 years
F1, b1 and b2 visas are not dual intent (requires non-immigrant intent). On all forms you need to mention the visa status of all relatives who are in the US. So watch for that.
H1, L1 are dual intent visas. Pending I130 does not affect L1 or H1 visa approval since these visas are dual intent. This is usually the safest option.
Follow to join (Consular processing) helps if you were married before the 485 approval.

Good question. I am in the same situation. My GG was approved Aug 6th and happen to attend an interview the same day.
I already used AC21 and may have used it second time for this if GC was not approved. So question is can you switch jobs within day of receiving CG ?
From forum search, it does seem ok to switch jobs. Its hard for me to find a valid reason on why we need to stick to the employer for 6 months or 1 yr.

I am still pondering, but leaning strongly towards switching job if the offer is good.

Please refrain from pushing OP to post employer details on public forum. Let it be OP�s weapon of surprise. I wish OP has contacted an attorney for fighting his case. If this is going to be an out of court settlement, then we shouldn�t expect complete details as well. OP's story should be an eye opener for all of us(Employees and Employers).

There is a very good chance that something will happen soon if we rush. if you are smart enough to think that filing on july 1st will guarantee your acceptance, then you are wrong buddy. As per the other threads and discussions from lawers , immigration officers, and info pass applicants that we have seen so far, uscis can change and will probably change the rules of accepting the application if the demand and rush continues. Already we are seeeing 45 days backlog of receipt.
besides lawyers just have to instruct fedex to pickup and deliver it on july 30th, how difficult can it be ?? except they should have little more room to pile up the applications until july 30th :)

12/02/2007: News of DHS Plan to Approve Immigration Applications Without FBI Name Check Results After Certain Months Stirs Confusion
A couple of sources reported lately that DHS was planning to place a cap on the FBI fingerprint check period and should the agency fail to receive the FBI report within certain undisclosed period of time, the agency will proceed with adjudication of pending immigration applications. Reportedly, the information was released at a DHS meeting with the immigration stakeholders but there are no details of information available about the so-called plan of change of course in managing homeland security matter.
This reminds of the agency's past history in 1998 acting on the backlogs in CIA clearance for over one year causing a huge I-485 backlogs for years and announcing that the INS would adjudicate pending I-485 applications without waiting for the CIA completion of the security clearance on a condition that should the CIA report indicate a negative information, the INS would "revoke" the approved I-485 applications. The people who suffered the most from the lack of coordination betweren the INS and the CIA at the time were Chinese. The INS stop-gap action stirred some political concern and short-lived. The CIA clearance backlogs gradually improved afterwards helping the INS to remove the 485 backlogs over a period of time.
Such unusual stop-gap action was taken "before" 9/11. Since 9/11, the security and name checks have presented the DHS with a challenging task of balancing betweein securing homeland and reducing clearance time. The FBI name checks have presented a serious problem of backlogs particularly in two areas: One is name check backlogs in the new hires of federal government employees and the other is the immigration backlogs. According to the CIS Ombudsman reports, in 2006 the DHS had about 82,824 backlogs pending more than one year. and in 2007 the number increased to 106,738 cases. Such backlogs induced federal litigations in the form of mandamus actions by the applicants with some successful results. The burden of such litigations on the DHS financial and litigation resources has mounted over the years. In order to deal with the problem, the USCIS one time "informally" handled such problem by approving applications (I-485 and natulalization cases) when the applicants brought mandamus actions in the federal courts. Such action had brought a boom of business for some immigration lawyers rushing to filing of a sort of "massive" mandamus actions. Obviously, this action raised a serious polical outcry for the agency compromising the nation's security by adjudicating applications without the name check results, leading to suspension of the DHS informal policy and a subsequent announcement that the agency would not give any favorable consideration in adjudication of applications where a federal lawsuit was pending.
The environment of the agency's security management indeed changed before and after 9/11 and the precedent of INS approving I-485 applications without name check results without prejudice to potential revocation of such approved I-485 applications afterwards may not be that easily reintroduced as the agency will have to overcome two hurdles: A political pressure in the upcoming national election and a potential compromise of security. There was a legislative proposal in the Congress in one of the FY 2008 appropriation bills (CJS Appropriation Bill) which mandated the DHS to adjudicate immigration and naturalization applications, should the FBI fail to clear the name checks within six months from the effective date of the legislation. Lou Dobbs does not care about legal high skilled immigrants he no longer refers to H1bs as H1bs but rather as "cheap foreign labor". His wife is Mexican-American but he does not hesistate to attack Mexico and any vulnerable immigrant group, for that, he makes over $6m a year for his rhetoric, he has even gone as far as being linked to hate groups and supremacist organizations. Media matters is an organization that exposes Lou Dobbs' lies, next time Lou Dobbs or Fox (the channel) attacks legal high skilled immigrants and does so using falsehoods, it would not be out of order for IV members to contact Media Matters and set out the truth.

I was on Hib with EliteCareers and they had sposored by GC.
It was very smooth sailing. They had everything down, very professional. Everytthing reltated to following up on time sheets, payroll, leave, etc was handeled very efficiently.
When I had some problems with Blue Cross not passing a claim on the medical bill, I was able to get the benefits person in chanrge to talk to Blue Cross and resoolve it immediately.
Jeri-Mc Fadden was the person with whom I mainly interacted. And she was always there to help, guide, and interface with the client. Most important, whatever terms I had discussed and agreed with her at the start, she was true to it all the time. Even when the company said, "oh, this is not company policy, we do not allow this". she stepped in and said, but for him, we had made an exception. Please proceed. That was very helpful.
It was a totally stressless experience... not like other H1b experience I had where even if I had something in writing, I was never sure if the company would follow through.
here, I knew, they would.
For best reults, just make sure you have all agreements in writing... like when they will start your GC, who pays what. etc.
So even if Jeri is no longer there, you have that in place. And the company is professional to follow through.
Best part, my GC came through in 6 months of filing.... I-140 and 485 was a breeze.
Just my experience....make sure, you go throughall situations and agree on who does what before, and then no issues. The company follows through. It is a well managed.

Maybe if armchair critiques showed up to the rally rather than shoot bogus messages from their desks we could have had a much larger turnout.
Nothing came from the rally, huh? There was no letter to pelosi by republican congressmen to increase EB visas, no letter from IEEE-usa and SIA to leading senators and congressmen for the same or no media coverage at all.. right?
Read the news buddy! If you mean legislative changes from the rally... then take a civics lesson. It has not even been one month since the rally yet. These things take time, but momentum is building (see previous paragraph). Did you expect president Bush to come out in the rally and distribute green cards to all present? If you did, come back to reality...

I am sorry for sounding pessimistic, but despite all attempts we have been successful. Is this because of our cause getting mixed up with illegal immigration? Is it due to inaction on part of lawmakers? Is it due to ineffective lobbying by IV? Or is there a need to change the IV strategy and leadership?
What is the cause, people?

I485 submitted in NSC 2nd July. Receipt date 9th Aug.
Working for same employer for last 5 years.
Had lud updates twice in last 5 days. (Also recently did a A11 online (address change for me and my family).
