Yeah, I said announced. Leopard has been announced since Macworld. That photo may have shown us the cover, but that is not groundbreaking and as nice as it is, as previously mentioned I'm sure it won't be the final disk label. In the words of MosDef, they ain't sayin' nothin' new...

Actually it was announced at last years WWDC. And I'm pretty sure that is final since they changed it from what they showed perviously. ;)

If that iPhone is true, then it would be the ugliest product released by Apple in a long time. What's next...a Pippin 2 Perhaps..

On a related note, isn't it a bit weird Apple hasn't announced any sales figures yet? They're usually quick to brag when devices hit a million sales in a short amount of time.

I've been wondering about this as well. I wonder if they're avoiding such announcements until either 1). the international launches are complete, or 2). they don't want any negative press backlash about these supply chain "issues." I think the numbers will be huge.

Where is my 2 lb Apple laptop? Sony has one. Panasonic has one.

Apple will never make a laptop that is that size because it would mean that they would have to take out the optical drive and make the computer ultimately worthless without a docking station. Apple will never make a computer that isn't fully capable from the start.

Photobucket, Flickr, etc. None of them accurately show the color in this photo as I see it straight off of the card. It's a lot warmer before the upload. Oh well:cool:

Even with the inaccurate transfer I really like the colors of this photo.

Here we go with the "You said this, so you must be this..." stereotype...

I know guys where even though they are the "bread winner" or contribute greatly to the funds, they have to approve EVERYTHING through the Wife - whereas the Wife can spend as she pleases....

    Happy Wife, Happy Life...

Not into that type of relationship.

Yeah, not really into that mentality either. As for the previous 2 posters. thanks for the response, but it wasn't necessary to patronize me as if I don't know what a serious relationship entails, and make assumptions. You didn't really provide any further insight, besides 'I need to keep the peace'. I stated in my post, the only issue should be about money. If you can't afford it, you certainly shouldn't even ask your wife permission to buy it, its just irresponsible and childish. If you can afford it, the wife shouldn't be able to stop you 'just because'. Does she run her purchases by you? Doubtful. Not every ****ing thing needs to be a joint decision where 'approval' is required. In many relationships, what would happen if the husband refused to give permission to the wife to buy something she wants (ie. an overpriced piece of fabric or shiny rock)? He would be seen as cheap, assholish, rules with an 'iron fist', controlling, a bad husband, etc etc. It basically wouldn't stand. But the wife can have veto for purchasing decisions as she pleases, even though the guy brings home most or all of the income? That's called unreasonable, so **** that ****. But nice to know you're all cool with it. I guess they have the power to refuse sex, which leverage.

Sorry, but for me this story doesn't pass the sniff test.

Since it's a page 2 story, I think the editors think the same.

    Great PR story if true...

The problem is that Facebook has much more sensitive information in it than your iPhone address book card. Not only that but significantly MORE information in it.

It's difficult to compare the address book on your iPhone to that of your entire friends list, including possible relationships (family, friends, peers), your phone number(s), your friends phone number(s), their family members, my website address for both personal and professional uses, email addresses for personal and professional use, birthdates, favorites (books, music, movies), etc.

Think of how that could be used.

My iPhone address book card has my emails, address, phone numbers. While those are important it doesn't tell you nearly as much about me that could be used in extremely bad ways. Think more than spam and sales calls.

An iPhone can know its current location. Most people would consider this to be sensitive information. You might say, "Yes, but the iPhone asks the user's permission to use their current location", in which case I'd point out that Facebook applications could behave the same way.

Again, Facebook could theoretically approve all Facebook applications, but still only allow applications to have access to their users' personal information with explicit approval of the user, or even forbid certain kinds of access altogether. Regardless of where a Facebook application runs, doesn't it still have to make requests of the Facebook servers themselves for personal information? And yet, Facebook still explicitly approves Facebook applications. And I think it is reasonable for both Facebook and Apple to do so.

CBS News made a point of announcing this recall on their Evening News show tonight. :) Blammed Sony for making bad batteries Dell also had to recall earlier this month. :D

BBC also participated in announcing the recall as well. More Images from BBC Coming. Show mobile Macs on Fire. "This comes hot on the heels of Dell's announcement last week," she says deadpan seriously. :D Sony says this recall may cost them up to $250 Million.

Showing Dell melted battery and laptop images as well and saying laptop makers may suffer negative image as well. Dell's stock price has dropped another 10% since thier recall began. She tags with regarding Apple's situation: "an announcement like this is taking a bite out of its reputation."

    Enjoy the Desktops.

I hope not, the 24" panel is not as good as the 23"
I bet you see a lot of complaints regarding photo editing on the 24" iMac. The screen is way too bright, and you cannot dim it enough for true color reproduction. This is an issue that is well known with the 2407 from dell. I am assuming it is the same panel.

I am sure someone has a 24" S-IPS panel.LGs doesnt say if it is or not.

It would be nice to see Apple make it 24" though, but if the current panels dont permit them to do it at the same quality, I am fine with it staying the same.

I meant when they do put caps on.

By the way I use like 2 gigs a week on AT&T and they leave me alone

They just capped us home and business owners (DSL and Fiber)...

I would imagine that wireless will follow. AT&T and Verizon will have to honor contracts for the time being. But when the contract is over...

OK, so their inital aim was implicitly to get in-the-face of smug Mac users. And then Apple "leans" on them, so they go all nicey-nice and 'decide' to a USB wifi card instead? Doesn't this seem slightly odd to anyone else?

It certainly strikes me as being a bit off, as well. I didn't think about it until you mentioned it, though. Seems like a pretty abrupt about-face.

It's nice to see the generally positive comments on this forum, other forums for "professionals" are not so happy!

Personally I can't wait to start working with it.

What these naysayers are NOT saying is what pro features are missing. Until they list something wrong with it, they are just being irrational. My experience is, lots of guys don't like their pro apps getting too easy to use, because they want their skills to be considered special. They hate it when, "Anyone can do it".

As others have pointed out, editing skills isn't just about technical expertise with the tools. What sets the better editors apart, is the choices they make. Think Walter Murch.

According to Yahoo they've been upgraded in regards to CPU (obviously), RAM and HD... so pretty much the same as the MBP's two weeks ago.

Edit: And double layer superdrive too...

Isn't the RAM the same? Unless they are putting single chips in as opposed to double to make store bought upgrades simpler.

holy crap, when did this happen, now more core solo in the mac mini, imac with new screen size and core 2 duo.

So macbook pros are next, (with a 20" screen size :D )

Apple is now all dual-core technology.

    WOOT WOOT WOOT!

Can't wait for the macbook pros.

(and the return of the newton :D )

That's HOT (figuratively and literally)!! I think the only way you could pull that off is with an external tuner, just like laptops have an external power supply.
Does a TV tuner add THAT much heat? Plus, with 23" of real estate to play with I would think that they could find a way to keep the heat down

Switched to macs back in 2001 and while I love the OS I have had a continuous stream of hardware problems with all apple products I have bought:

iBook G3: logic board died and replaced 3 times

iMac G5: CPU got so hot the machine almost melted! So far I have had the logic board replaced 3 times.

MacBook: Random shutdown syndrome, faulty mouse and track pad, palm rest discoloration. Currently in for repair again!

iPod: hard disk and battery both died

EDIT: and don't get me started about the abomination that is the so called mighty mouse. The thing barely lasted a week!

Apple have really got to get there quality control sorted out. So what if the OS is great if the continual hardware faults mean you can't actually use the damn thing!

    One cheesed off mac user.
Your experience is clearly not representative. My family and I have had 9 Macs, and no hardware problems ever. And large surveys, including those by PC Magazine and Consumer Reports, have shown that Apple desktops require significantly fewer repairs than any other brand out there.

Either you are trolling, or you are the most unlucky Mac user I have ever heard of...
