I received the I-485 approved notice sent e-mail and the Card Production Ordered e-mail twice. But I have not received the 'Welcome letter'. Also any idea how long it might take to receive the physical card?

Hi - I haven't obtained a Schengen visa from the Swedish consulate, but have obtained one several times from the French consulate. I also had trouble obtaining exactly worded letters from my insurance company. The best option for these embassy visa requirements, for me, was to purchase one for $12-$14 from InsureMyVisa.com. They give you a letter as per exact requirements of whichever country's consulate you are applying at. Good luck!

Currently on H1B 8th year extension which will expire on 25th June, 2009.
Labor PD: 9th August, 2004
Labor cleared: 11th September, 2007.
I-140 (approval pending) filed on 4th October, 2007. Received at USCIS on 5th October, 2007.
Can’t file for I-485 since the EB3 date for India is unavailable.
There is a high chance that I might be laid off at my current employer in the next 2-3 weeks.
Can I transfer my H-1 upto June 25th, 2009 (or later) as well as start a new PERM case in EB2 category?
In case of the above H-1 transfer, will the new H-1 be valid for 1 year from the filing or will it be upto 25th June, 2009?
What are my other options not to go out of status or leave the country?
As you have I-140 pending (from Employer A), you are eligible for 1 year H1-B with any employer.
Please check with your attorney.

There is an issue. You have to make a trip to the local police station every six months to register your child. If you're lucky, the officials will be polite and helpful and do this without fuss. But knowing India very well, they're more likely to create a fuss till you've bribed them. Also, now they know where your child lives and the fact that he/she is a US citizen. IV is not giving any updates on the public forums at this time and risk our ongoing efforts. Do not quote some annonymous members on other forums or this forum to elicit a response from IV. I discussed this to a lawyer. He said that even if I file in August, it will still be accepted since I am qualified to apply in July. This is a bit confusing.
I was thinking of looking for new employer which already has all the paperworks done (10 + 30 days). These are valid until 180 days. I hope to find one so that I can file this July.

You can go to Mexico (Methamoras OR Tijuana) to get visa stamp, then go to india. It's very quick and easy to get an appointment. i did it on last october and then went to india within month and came back in Jan 2008.
