I did donate in the past and I did NOT become Donor when IV created donor forum, BUT...... Your open support to "Drifter" made me to become donor. I subscribed to IV now and this
keep us updated on "Drifter" situation...
I have been a long time supporter of IV and all the work that IV does, I have been on this forum for close to three years now and have always believed in the cause of IV and have actively taken part in a lot of the efforts that IV has undertaken and have contributed monetarily as well .
Besides the fact that IV can try to help members in extreme situations like the one I am in, IV is really the only organization that watches out for our community, it is all we have. We need to be an active part of it and should make it stronger.

Close thing between you and Eilsoe, I have to admit. Almost didn't vote because I couldn't decide between them. But I went for yours, it showed more of the actual castle, and had that nice tudor bit in it too.

Being a big company they may have their own IT dept. If we can find out if they either outsource their IT dept or hire H1-bs than he may not have much to argue..my 2cents.

I am with you on that one :) No point taking a risk for a few dollars.
As I already mentioned it is not about $$$. It is about getting an appointment at consulate. Anyways, I managed to prepone the appointment now. So everything should be smooth.

Nothing against IV. I really think, that they are doin a great job
But why do u have to care about whether IV endorses this or not. If you think this is a great idea, go ahead and send the flowers urself.
I know alot of my friends, who do not care or know about IV, but have got the email chain and sent flowers on their own

It'll be nice if the core endorsed it. We members do contribute and participate in all campaigns when core asks. It'll be great if the core lets the ideas bubble up from members too! That'll make it a two way street.

Any update on no. of fax sent. - Just curious.
I think whey you try to send fax, it says how many faxes are sent so far. After that no info. If anybody is sending the fax, can you just update how many #10 and #11 were sent.

Sorry to hear about your situation. You should've taken unpaid leave for two weeks instead of a lay off. Now you definitely should not file AC21 and hope that the USCIS will not issue RFE (rarely happens). It doesn't matter how you quit, if the USCIS finds about it, it will probably deny I-485.
Regarding Shusterman's Q&A. I am not sure where is he coming from. The law does not provide for lay-off exception.
Recently I heard that if you are laid off from the company, then the 180 days period won't come into picutre and you can very well move to another company, provided your I-140 is approved and not revoked. I think they have made some modifications recently to the law on this type of cases. Talk to your Lawer to find out these changes.

My Priority Date Sep 2002 EB3
According to LC, my labor got approved on Aug 9th, but we received actual paper on Sep 9th .. So lost the chance to FILE 485
DOL took more than a month TO send papers ..
There is no point in blaming IV . They are the BEST ..
It is US Govt agencies who are lazy and ineptitude.
US did not get Civil Rights in one year .. it took decades of fight ...
IV is fighting for every one ..

You are missing it again. What is a driver license for ? Drivers license is a drivers license. It is a verification whether one has the driving skills and knowledge to drive safely on the road.
What has it got to do with job or immigration status ?
Matters related to Driver license are largely decided by States but with "Secure ID Initiative" passed in the Congress, some of the powers have shifted to the Federal Govt. Many aspects of Secure ID initiative are still work in progress but some of the states have taken pro-active steps.
Driver license is not merely used for letting the person drive BUT ALSO serves as a photo ID.
Your immigrant status is linked to how long you can stay in this country. Your stay in this country is prescribed by the laws established by USCIS, Department of Homeland Security and other agencies. Driver's license is the single most important photo identification is this land. It shows who you are, where you reside and if you are legally in this country.
You use your photo ID to board a plane, when applying for a loan, to deal with various govt. agencies etc.

1. The diversity argument is flawed when it comes to skilled immigration, especially when we have most of the grad schools here filled with Indian/Chinese students. This is what I was explaining to "iskantem" and why especially when you are talking about less than 0.05% of the population it doesn't make sense.
2. We don't even allow anyone over here to have an alternate opinion on an issue. In terms of IV activity, it is almost 100% Indian. However 60% of the EB3 backlog is not from India! Now why don't we see these 70000+ ROW guys participating here I wonder! Let me tell you why. Its because a lot of us actively discourage them from participating whenever they have an opinion contrary to ours (read India). Now I maybe guilty of losing it a little there, but I still made an effort to reach out and explain the flaw in the diversity issue he was mentioning rather than mount an all out attack/ignore him right away/stick my head in the ground.

Factors you forgot to consider:
1. EB1 and EB2 applicants this July and Aug. ate up the numbers that were made available to EB3 last June 2007.
2. EB3 Visa number is just very few, around 800 per month per PICM country.

I think we all have this OCD to keep checking IV. I am in EB3 and i know nothing is going to happen to my 485 for the next 3 or more years, i myself keep checking IV, no wonder why you dont want to....
Atleast be happy that you have a probability that you will get it by aug, think about all the rest of us who dont know what will ever happen and when we may get freed from the clutches of desi employer.....
May be we should all become afghani translators or get religious visa and apply again in EB4 / EB5 :confused:

Can someone tell me how to check whether Finger Printing is cleared and case has been sent/approved from FBI Name Check
FP status check phone is 304-625-5590. Name check is a different story. Write a letter to your congressman/senator or even Mr. President to inquiry about the name check status.
