Hope it resolves the short battery life since updating to 4.3!
Yeah I have noticed this. I can only get around half the day before the battery is at 30%. When I use to be around 60% or so.

I assume you mean headless tower since all the iMacs and the MAC Mini are desktops......... Oh wait, isn't the MAC Pro a headless tower?
It's a workstation, not a desktop. Yes there is a difference.

big film studios were currently running around like blue arsed flies trying to gear up to release plenty of 3D content in time for Apples next launch.
...for iTunes downloads only. The new cloud based iTunes will have 3D movie content.
The iPad 3 will not have a 3D screen but you'll be about to stream 3D movies to your new 3D enabled TV.

I just upgraded to CS5 a few months ago for $600. The 5.5 upgrade would cost another $400. Adobe is easily my least favorite company in the world.
Just like an iPhone, you really want to get it at (or soon after) release to get the max "value" before it gets superseded!

I am for and against flash on the iPhone. There are times when I will be away from a computer and need to view a site that happens to be flash based and it frustrates me when I attempt to view it on my iPhone. At the same time, there are a lot of annoying flash based ads and other garbage that I do not care for or want to see on my iPhone.

 1543. Reporting requirement (http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode50/usc_sec_50_00001543----000-.html)
(a) Written report; time of submission; circumstances necessitating submission; information reported
In the absence of a declaration of war, in any case in which United States Armed Forces are introduced
(1) into hostilities or into situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances;
(2) into the territory, airspace or waters of a foreign nation, while equipped for combat, except for deployments which relate solely to supply, replacement, repair, or training of such forces; or
(3) in numbers which substantially enlarge United States Armed Forces equipped for combat already located in a foreign nation;
the President shall submit within 48 hours to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and to the President pro tempore of the Senate a report, in writing, setting forth
(A) the circumstances necessitating the introduction of United States Armed Forces;
(B) the constitutional and legislative authority under which such introduction took place; and
(C) the estimated scope and duration of the hostilities or involvement.
If the United States were under immediate threat, do you really think the president would have to write a report to congress "setting forth the circumstances necessitating the introduction of United States Armed Forces"?
I think the War Powers Act reaches beyond there needing to be an immediate threat.
But please, correct me if I am wrong.
I'm not surprised. Every administration grabs more and more power. I get depressed just seeing how everyone takes it as the status quo and defends it. The Constitution was set up almost as if to stop one person from being able to take up to war on a whim. Well, if Obama has that right, then George Bush III, or whoever will push the limits of his powers even further. I guess that's the power of precedence. If you look at the Constitution, it vests in the Congress the exclusive power to declare war. Things just have a way of changing. I thought Bush was bad enough with Iraq. Now Obama's actions are even worse than Bush's. Obama didn't even put up the charade of making a case.

I wonder how computers and smartphones would look now if there was never an iPod. Apple might not ever have taken the leap and make the iPhone or the iPad. Cell phones might all be running windows mobile version 7 that would look just like winMo 6. We might not have an Android OS, or if we did, it might look totally different. Tablets might still look like they did in 2004. Microsoft might have rested on its laurels and never made Win7 as good as it is.

AGAIN, let me restate the following:
- Brazil has one of the most expensive workforces in the world - please don't think that the world's second-biggest Western democracy is the same as an Asian sweatshop - Apple or Foxconn are NOT going there because of cheap labor - it's a much more strategic reason, along with lower logistical costs;
- Upper-level salaries in Brazil are ALREADY higher than in the US or Europe, for reasons of economic growth and increased demand for skilled positions. A C-level executive in BR earns an average of $520,000, as opposed to some $400,000 in the US and Europe.
HAHAHHA are you retarded? Of all places with such high division of upper and lower class you are going to use Brazil when comparing to the US? C-Levels will not be the ones on the factory floor. Spend 5 seconds on google and you are going to see a much different view in terms of labour cost. In fact I'm a little disappointed you would even argue that cheap labour is not one of the benefits of Brazil. You must be out of touch. FYI monthly salary will be wayy south of $500/month. Hate to tell you this but Foxconn is the highest exporter in % of GDP for ALL of China (I think they proven their competency.).. and well...you are an arm chair president with tons of misinformation.

Yeah, I was with him up until this line:
I think that music faded in importance for a while, and the iPod has helped to bring music back into people's lives in a really meaningful way. Music is so deep within all of us, but it's easy to go for a day or a week or a month or a year without really listening to music. And the iPod has changed that for tens of millions of people, and that makes me really happy, because I think music is good for the soul.
Umm, yeah, the iPod brought music back into the limelight. Thanks Steve Jobs, in the 90s I was worried music would go away forever, even though it's existed since the dawn of man. :rolleyes:

So Walmart is full of obese hillbillies?
I bought my iPad 2 at Walmart: 7 folks in line, 15 iPad 2's. Everyone was very nice. Im a 24yr old 6'2'', 190lb Systems engineer(with all my teeth)...and I shop there all the time. Dont hate...
I went to walmart on launch day at 4pm I was #5 in line and they had 6. Best Buy had 40 in line. I was out of there by 5:05 with my 64 gig wifi. I ordered one for my wife on line I got a 5 week date. They sent my cover right away, and took full payment from my debit card. Thats why they should send the ordered ones before they open to another chain.

I'm guessing he got the MBP before the iPad. And, the 13 inch MBP can do a lot more than an iPad, while being more portable than the 15".
Oh of course, still seems a little redundant though.

But, my giant WTF goes to the bolded. You really think the Revolutionary War was unnecessary? How else would you have proposed separating from Britain?
It would've saved me a lengthy and costly Visa application process!
But seriously. Gaddafi and his regime has been hated for years, he just managed to stay under the radar with the crazier mofos in the Middle East taking focus.
Sending US or British troops in would be a bad idea, because nobody wants another occupation, but enforcing a no fly zone means a couple of things. We help make the revolution there a slightly leveller playing field. We are responding to all of the reports of distress from human beings.
Obama isn't sending you to war but to assist in a humanitarian effort against a sociopath. I fear that the Islamic nations backing action had sectarian reasons behind their support though.

The days of $300 Windows PC's are over. People have more expectations for their PC purchases than just email and word documents. People are opting to buy better PCs but less frequently.
Apple now is an option for people who have abandoned the crappy cheap computers and the iOS devices make Apple PCs even more attractive. Especially with Dual Boot options.
I've noticed more Linux users on campus opting for Apple PCs too. The people prefer Linux but like the ability to boot into Mac OS and get the benefits of that.

Its something to do with apple TV's upgrade. I am guessing it will be totally wireless in terms of being able to buy content from the box itself. ala iPhone music store. That coupled with affordable and vast library of movie rentals.
Also re-designed MBP. There;s definitely something cool coming!!

"business acumen"? Hahaha. Grow up, kid. You have demonstrated that you know nothing of the computer industry or the position that Apple holds, but merely fabricated what position YOU think Apple holds, "as a shareholder". You haven't admitted when you were wrong and you're just blindly arguing for Apple.
I know the following. Apple is turning a profit in a crappy market. Apple layoffs have been light. Apple is not a company with the recources (based on market cap) to fab its own chips. These are things which you can verify for yourself.

No, but you suggested that we should rally around some cause (design chips, boycott Apple, etc.) and vocalize. I merely pointed out that neither would do any good.
You are not getting kudos for making good points, you are getting kudos for making popular replies. The ones that most Mac users here want to hear - How much Apple owns and how they have a masterplan that, mysteriously, never seems to quite work out for them, now does it.
When we started this argument, I observed that executive teams at publicly traded companies prolly knew more than you about what was happening. A day later, with have a 64 Bit IBM chip, with many sources (sfgate.com, cnn.com, etc.) independently confirming it is to become an Apple part.
Hmmmm.....looks like it worked out to me.
Well it seems as though Apple has gone with IBM, so part of their "plan" is to improve chip speed, just as i suggested they should.
Without you, I'm sure they'd be gunning to slow things down. I'm sure you'll be back to tell us how this 1.8 GHz 64 bit Power4 derivative is slow compared to the 3.8 GHz PIV next year.
I never suggested that the only way for Apple to survive is purely chip speed, i suggested that that is a major part of it and to say it isn't is moronic.
I guess it's a good thing I haven't, else you could call me a moron.
In the end, Nispy, we have agreed on many points and if this whole argument had gone a little better, without petty, childish insults on your part, which i'm ashamed to say that i have contributed to in this last post, and complete missunderstandings of my posts, we could have come to some kind of constructive conclusion. Clearly that wasn't your aim.

In my case it's adding ONE podcast to listen too before bed, then waiting forever as it sits there "updating" the library. I can sync and start to listen to it in the same time on my classic.
One thing to try is disabling the spotlight search for songs, I used to have the exact same problem too until I disabled searching songs. That window still pops from time to time, but at least it's not all the time!

I think Mac sales are directly tied to the Halo affect of the iOS devices. The more they sell there, the more people open up to Mac as an alternative. With Lion having more iOS like interfaces, it will make it even more natural for new customers.
Anecdotal evidence to support your theory...? Me.
Started with an iPod Touch...which led to an iPhone 3GS (Now an iPhone 4)...which led to an iPad...which led to a base model 13" Macbook Pro.
Oh, rinse and repeat for the Mrs. except replace her laptop with an i7 15" Macbook Pro.
And the kid went from an iPod Touch to an iPhone.
All that to say...the Halo affect is in full force at the Ironworker compound! :D We are pretty much an Apple household now.
The iOS like interfaces coming up in Lion helped push us to the MBP's, though I had decided more than a year ago that my next computer was going to be a Mac. And having almost two years of 'experience' with Apple's touch interfaces has made the MBP's trackpad a breeze to get used to. I don't even use a mouse anymore!

The amount of crap in this thread is amazing:
1) Flash could never be a normal 'App' because it has to operate as a plugin for Safari since it's not a stand alone product on its own. For this reason, it would at the very least HAVE to be co-developed by Apple and included in a software update.
Quite amazing is also the amount of misinformation.
Apparently you have not heard of AIR (Adobe Integrated Runtime). It is an instance of the Flash player that has more functionality and runs outside of the browser.
http://www.adobe.com/products/air/
Of course if you mean in the context of the iPhone only, then the above does not apply.
