why are two different Apple websites giving slightly DIFFERENT serial numbers? one is 3K***** and the other is 3X*****

Holy moley, you mean it starts downloading cover art without asking or letting you turn that off? I don't want cover art, and I sure as heck don't want to use up bandwidth on my connection for cover art downloads, much less send out reports on what I care to keep in my playlists.

Unpackage and set up new Nano yesterday.
Yes, the new packaging is nifty and smaller. As to ecologically better, I'm not sure. Less bulk and weight to ship, but the use of the plastic (with all its chemicals) seems like it might wash. Wouldn't have looked as nice but maybe a design similar to the Shuffle packaging (but smaller), then could have used more recycled materials. Just a thought. I don't know - I do care about the environment but don't chain myself to trees. :)
The "new" design is nice. It certainly feels solid in you hand (much as the Mini does). The 1G Nano's always had a delicate feel to them (IMO).
The screen is very bright and clear.
The center button that is now concave is a nice touch. I did not have problems with the convex button shape on earlier models but this is a good design change.
The colors are bright and saturated. Richer than on the Mini's.
The sound quality is even better than before. I was satisfied with the Mini. When I bought a Shuffle, I'd read in many places that the sound was better on the shuffle than the Mini - and it is. However, the sound on the Nano 2G is a big step up. This may be a combination of the player and the new headphone design and fit.
The new headphones definitely have better sound quality than the earlier versions. For me, they fit better. They feel nicer with the soft gasket around the edge. I had not been using the pads with the old h'phones as they came of too easily and were lost almost immediately!
I am very pleased with the purchase. Now if the accessory suppliers will catch up pronto! Even though the overall size between 1G and 2G are essentaily the same, the new "squared off" corners will probably not fit well in the 1G cases. Those 1G rounded corners shaved off a lot of space.

Does anyone know if they resolved the issue of updates 'caching' on the App Store...i.e still showing the number of updates available badge even though they have been downloaded and installed???

I never said that Apple sucks. Actually, in my last post, I said that I loved the iPhone, and that I thought it was a great product. I was merely expressing my disappointment/frustration with the possible changing of the product refresh cycles this year. Again, they have the right to release their products when they want. But my 3G just isn't really functional for me anymore, and I'm gonna need to upgrade sooner rather than later. I wish I could upgrade to another iPhone this summer, but that doesn't look like it's gonna happen. So I may have to upgrade to something else.

You can 4~5 fingers swipe left and right to switch to another app or swipe up and down to open up and close down the multitasking bar, and finally you can pinch in using 4~5 fingers to go to the home screen.
Especially, I love the swipe left/right function. You can switch between apps really quickly. I think that is the real multitasking.

"Something in the air" was a popular phrase used in the 30's and 40's to describe radio... it became popular again with the advent of television and it denoted that there was something special being played on either radio or TV.... presenters on either medium would say when they were about to play a new track or introduce a performance; "There's something in the air"..... so from this I would suggest it has to do with Apple TV and maybe radio/TV for iPod / iPhone.... then again it could be a floating multi-touch keyboard !

Making it available on iTunes now would also stop some people from going to the "file sharing" sites to find it. On Amazon.com the CD is selling for $9.72. I have a feeling that on iTunes it would be at least $12.99... and people would pay it. Record company profits either way.

Nice upgrade, the color options on the small and big ones are kind of lame, but I hope they will work with a firewire to dock cable for those of us without USB 2.
NO FireWire sync support since the G5/Nano iPod's. This is why I'm crying today :rolleyes:
