Guys,
Let's not assume that visas wasted by USCIS would have been allocated to India or China. This would not have happened as these countries can not get more visa numbers than the numerical cap of 7% of the world-wide EB quota.
I'm sorry, anyone who thinks that the Priority Dates were shifted so visas would not be wasted are deluded.
Come on - the visas were going to go to waste because there was not enough manpower at UCSIS to process the applications. In what way WHATSOEVER, has this changed because there are more applications?!

add to that aman's lost bags and cell phone and constant attempts to call akhil to retrieve his wallet...poor akhil arrived back huffing and puffing and in mortal panic...later we discovered we had his home phone number and had been leaving messages on it for 2 days...and wondering why in the world he would not pick his phone up!
It was a unique situation.........
me and my wife were coming back from a lawmakers meeting and found that Aman was waiting for his wallet as the luggage was in my car...........
while walking fast she scratched her ankle badly and was not able to walk properly............ so i made her sit at an intersection and ran towards the hotel............ then had to rush back to get her, as i had asked to her wait at an intersection....
was fun and by the time i reached back i was like all huffed/puffed up and she was laughing at me...........

Chanduv,
Did you meet any lawmakers? Please share the insights.
I am starting this thread for people to share some nice sweet memories about the rally.
This Part 1 is basically for "WHO MET WHO"
Most of us in these forums - we talked on phones for a long time and discussed a lot of topics - and we met each other in real at the rally.
I was excited - and I want to share some of my experiences.
Please post some experiences on this thread like mine below
I drove from New York with 5 other dedicated IV members ie tnite, tikka, siraviny, ps57002 and a new member Arun
At the Rally I met Niloufer(needhelp) and Vandana, drona and other volunteers at the registration desk and was nice to meet you all.
Then came paskal and gsc999 who stuck a badge on my shirt "chanduv23" and then I met Shivakanth, Vijay Anand and other folks.
After that I met Macaca - lovable guy, some core members like indio0617, ashish, tamsen.
Then I met pappu. As soon as I greeted him he stood up. I thought he was respecting me. I felt honored. But after a while - he was standing up to anyone who greets him. Then I figured out that was his habit - and no respect or whatever :D:D:D
Then met Abhijeet who was carrying his guiter and then jazzbythebay, janilsal and other folks and Jay and Aman and all core team members
Then I met all the Chinese friends in the NY chapter, Jane, Sophia and it was nice knowing them
I did miss out a few names - but overall I loved this experience of meeting you all the folks
Regards

All,
I cannot find any information the location where we are going to meet in DC. It would help me to find accomadation or public transport to the event location. I am planning to attend this event.
Thanks
Hotel near capitol hill. We will post it soon. But all our meetings are in this area.

It is surprising (rather shocking) to see how a discussion on an EB bill (which might never see the light of day anyway) has degenerated into an oft-repeated rant on how IV does not represent EB3.
When I meet with my lawmaker's office (and when I again meet in Feb), I repeat the IV provisions which are for ALL EB and not any specific category/country. THe problem with EB3 is the with the way the EB system/inventory is set-up. It is stupid to convert a chronic issue into a "IV is not trying" debate. As always, we have lots of armchair critics and few grass-roots workers.
Yes forever_waiting it is surprising and shocking to see how a discussion on an EB Bill which will never see the light of the day has degenerated into an oft-repeated rant
By using the keyword
oft-repeated (i will ignore the word rant because only an immature mind will call the other side of a discussion as rant) it
would imply that many EB3 members have raised the same concern in this forum before and i am not the first and believe me when i say this i will not be the last also. So that would mean a whole bunch of people (remember eb3 are 50 k and eb2 are 12k) have the same concern and they have raised the same concern in this same forum so that would mean IV is aware of the concern.
Now what has
IV done about it ??
Meeting a lawmaker with the support of IV behind you is not a reflection of a big effort on your side. The power behind that is IV. Now for me or any other EB3 to meet a law maker is not something i would consider an effort since EB3 are willing to put the same effort which you are putting only if they believein what they are doing. To believe a person needs to feel that they are working for a cause that will impact their situation. Sadly this is missing and that is why EB3 people are cool about the whole meet the law maker process
Regarding the statement I repeat the IV provisions which are for ALL EB and not any specific category/country. THe problem with EB3 is the with the way the EB system/inventory is set-up. What specific steps has IV articulated to resolve the specific issue of EB3
By your own definition this is a chronic issue and what we are taught is that any issue which is chronic needs to be redressed and when it is not it becomes a big issue which cannot be handled
As always, there is the name calling stating that EB3 people aarmchair critics and winers but you are part of a community and you have issues you will air your greviences in the same community not to some one who has no idea or does notcare about it
What is really suprising and shocking is that in EB community itself EB2 does not care to listen and provide and open discussion about EB3 issues. Now according to me that is shocking
BTW i commend your effort of meeting the law maker but if you introspect the only reason you are making an effort is because you believe your efforts will bear fruit in the form of a GC soon (I believe you are EB2 with a priority date of Apr 08)

I have a question here. Since TSC processing time is 04/30/2007 and NSC is 06/08/2007. Does that mean even EB-1 will have to wait until the processing time to their RD ?
eg, If you are EB-1 just file your 485 this month, but the processign center time not get to 04/2008 for another 2 years, then even you are EB-1 which is always current(for right now), you still not able to get your GC in two years ?

Finally the much awaited SMS/e-mail came through (from TSC). My guess is USCIS (TSC/NSC/etc) is approving cases at random as long as PD is current. There is no logic to Filing date / Notice date and all that. I came on F-1 10 years back (08/03/00) and was current for 2 months in 08 with no luck..... Please be patient... I know it is been frustating after a long wait and at times to see GC get approved for folks with later PD and all that after all we are humans and feel why someone was choosen today and not me ...... hang in there and I wish u all get that magic e-mail.....

If you have account in BOA with 25K, you can do 30 trading per month for free. Also I have some good tips for long terms investors like people who are planning to settle here. The plan is to buy the stocks from companies directly and reinvest the dividend. When you are not paying the commission and investing the dividend, you can get very good return in the long run.
If any one interested please let me know...
Hi Snathan, will be able to give more details / explain more on -- The plan is to buy the stocks from companies directly and reinvest the dividend. When you are not paying the commission and investing the dividend, you can get very good return in the long run.

Well I had called a NY congresswoman when I was stuck in a H1 name check. I found them open and willing to help. She even contacted the FBI.
Well I am just an ordinary person, and the same as everyone here, and not saying I will do everything myself. There are persons who are better skilled at this and know the immigration law better.
Also don't rule out lobbying, I just said we also need something else that should justify our case without a lobby. I'm asking for suggestions or ideas.
I may be new here, If you see my post on the other forum, I'm asking for the creation of an organization with skilled people who will create a new campaign among legal immigrants. Kind of like Grass roots movement.
I saw that. Looks like you are trying to pimp for a lawyer. Learn to stand on your own 2 feet first.
All you have done is made a phone call to a lawmaker office. Before you start a poll go and meet your lawmaker and learn how to talk to lawmakers. That will be a good start.

Aha! just found out about the H2A Visa, which was what was exactly needed for labour and agriculture and already exists. This visa is very much like a H1b in protecting wages of american labourers, and exists for immigrants from Mexico.
Thank you attorney Greg Siskind for the information.
But no they want Citizenship directly and dont want to go through the hassle of Visa, when its easier to cross the border with no background check. The H-2A mandated they compete with American citizens for the job.
They have shown that they choose to break laws when there was a legal option available. Someone mentioned earlier that they have no options.
The H2A ensures only quality labourers and agriculture workers are hired, instead of criminals. Well this is one option for a legal path to illegals. If someone cannot qualify for a H-2A, then they probably have something that very negative in their resume.
The employer had to pay only $100 for the application and $10 for each labourer.
Well if an illegal without H-2A is considered for amnesty, I can't believe a H-1B is being completely ignored for all his contributions. Just shows some basic human values, fairness are completely absent.

a lot has been said about non participation from the region nearby to DC.
but this post is about something very different. i would like to highlight the
very important role that our members and volunteers from tri state and the DC area played in the rally. they worked against all odds and deserve sincere thanks.
tri state: this is the most dedicated bunch there is...singhsa3, chanduv23, tnight, siravi, mpadapa, mbartosik, poonam and many others worked tirelessly against serious odds to cover the region with fliers and motivate rally goers and contributors. i'm sure i'm forgetting someone...very sorry...tell me and i'll edit :-) tikka whose commitment to iv is always without question made it to the rally despite serious work constraints and always set an example for others to follow. singhsa3 unfortunately could not and we were only too glad to stand in for him.
the two buses from tri state were arranged by singhsa3 and mpadapa and were superbly managed by laborchic and GreenGrass...sounds like everyone had a great time! we are all confident that the tri state chapter will build over time and will be a force to reckon with- how can it not- it has the most able leaders and volunteers there are....
i have to confess to bugging these folks on a constant basis about spreading the message, in retrospect it was not needed in the least...they walked the talk everyday, took time off work, posted and distributed fliers, called members and did everything one could ask and much more. please join me in thanking the tri state chapter for a lot of hard work and endless motivation to our common cause!
and then the local volunteer team from DC/MD/VA, superbly led by a tireless guy who had a full plate throughout - nixstor! i think many rally goers missed how much work was put in by the local folks, they ran a host program- picked up and dropped from airports and put people up. they were ready and willing to do all asked of them starting saturday itself, and on rally day they were responsible for the whole operation- marshals for the rally and ensuring that after everyone departed the two grounds we used were cleared and cleaned as needed. having been there myself i cannot begin to underestimate how much work remained even after the rally was over. i hesitate to name...arun, girdhar and samir- i know, but there were so many others that worked- that i will let the local team chime in here. a special word for sukh- the man is just incredible. from arranging hotels to buying stationary to arranging flowers and flagpoles to helping with the gurudwaras to running the uhaul and the van..and not least getting more than 800 placards ready for the rally- his work never stopped. we all owe a debt of gratitude to the DC area folks who made this rally possible.
let's stop complaining about what may have been for local attendance and instead celebrate the tri state and DC area chapters for what they did do and what they will...for sure ...in the future as well :)
KUDOS to the local team too, I totally agree, except nixstor kept saying he is not a local when you ask him for directions:)

We picked a local event in So.Cal that you can participate in as well
Great initiative and kudos to NolaIndian for making it happen!
I walked 12 miles yesterday. Today i feel the pain when i walk. Anyways, you can count me in for that part. I am not sure if i can commit myself to the SF event... I need some more time to make up my mind.
