Surprisingly today I got second LUD on AP. Content is changed as under.
Receipt Number: LIN****
Application Type: I131, APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT
Current Status: Document mailed to applicant.
On November 7, 2007 we mailed the document to the address we have on file. You should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service
I received my AP on Nov 3 and looking at the AP doc it had an approval date of Oct 10 whereas I had "Document mailed to applicant" message on Oct 31.
I am not sure what happened between Oct 10 and Oct 31st.

1) 47000 (primary applicants or with the derivative applicants) ?
2) "Otherwise approvable" Does this mean that these cases have PDs prior to current cutoffs ? Or are they just saying that the application can be approved but have to wait for a visa number when the PD becomes current?

This is a very valid point. If employer or his lawyer asks more money in fees for filing I485 it is always better to go thro employer if he files I485 promptly. But if the delay is intention of the employer then use your own Lawyer.
I think u r in a trap here. I recently talked to a HR of a desi company and he clearly told me his boss does not want to file for 485 for all eligible applicants and is working on strategies to fool his employees into prolonging things till dates retrogress.
U can choose ur lawyer, u don't have to let employer know u applying for 485 at all. Do not link ur lawyer and employer for any reason. Keep them both away. U already have 140 approved and u have nothing to lose.

Hi i just checked my 140 online status is shows,
"On August 30, 2007, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly."
But why are they sending it to DOS unless you file for Consular processing?

Can i file my taxes thru HR block on basis of his paystubs(and checks) and bank statements?
I came here in 2000 through a desi consultant. After landing, he made me a sign a contract that i won't leave him within 1 year or else i need to bear fines ( he didn't tell this while giving offer letter in India ). Then later he kicked me out after 1 year ( because of bad time there weren't much projects ).

I added some facts about how much I paid in SSN, Medicare, Fed and State taxes (in the last 10 years that I have been here) as well as some detail about what I'm contributing (patent pending) to this country. Another thing I mentioned was about my volunteering during the 2008 campaign (implying that I would be voting for the president's party if I ever become a US citizen in 2050 :~).

I just saw the USCIS GC approval email notice - EB2-I - Dec 20'th 2005 Priority Date
I have same issue as few others have. I'm not married yet. I have applied for GC and luckily the GC has been approved (when I really don't want it to be approved). ... Trust me I was praying god all the time.
My priority date is EB2-I Dec 20'th 2005 and god knows how they approved it much before every one else. When all others really want their GC's.
There are lots people who are in queue with Jan 2004 and later priority dates and whose cases are still pending... How could they approve my case so soon...
I have scheduled for a travel to India on August 15'th 2008 to get married. I wanted to marry and get my wife to USA. I 'm engaged with girl at India and all set for marriage this month (August 2008).
I believe my H1-B has been automatically canceled on immediate approval of GC.
How do I get my future wife to USA?. What are the options left out to me now?.
Please excuse me if this is a duplicate thread. I'm really in hurry and could not check all threads properly.

I saw a similar post in this forum about someone being single and getting GC approved, at that time lot of users suggested withdrawing the 485 app, if you had withdrawn it then you could have filed it again later.
I personally feel, marriage and life is more important than a plastic card.
Try for h1b or f1 visa, if you had got married before approval atleast you could have tried follow to join.

That previous person (whose name was mentioned on this approved labor) already had left this employer in 2004...so there is no one getting hurt if this employer is offering me that labor.
- My question still remains : Is it necessary to go for labor substitution to use this approved labor (showing the name of old consultant)... OR ... Can it be possible to file I-140 straight with my profile against this labor....?

Because of sudden influx of projects coming to India last year, there was a temporary upsurge in the demand for skilled personnel in india ....So there are many options for these people which caused the higher attrition as they have many options open....So temporarily these IT Companies used to retain highly skilled employees at any cost and kept them in front line and recruited some freshers (i have seen one company recruited freshers and charged them 50,000 ...you heard it right :0 initally with the commitment of 2 years).
As the freshers are catching up with the experienced ..i see a sharp decline in demand my area of expertise from past 6 months to an Year .... But from CEO point of view , still work is done ..with 40 % or more saving ..may be for little compromise on quality ....
I have a feeling that attrition rate may slow down in coming years .....
Any one please share your views /experiences ..

Reasoning with the right people in proper limelight is the strongest way.
The system is unfair to folks who have done things by the book.
To change it, in this economy is not easy. IV has put in tremendous efforts in the past.
Let us just not give up. Big names in Industry and rational voices in TV are slowly opening up to what we are facing.
But this is not our country. Let us be prepared to convincingly answer: Hey, don't like it? Go back to where you came from.

My employer is not giving copy of my I140. With out I140 how to port it to an other job/employer etc ?

I 140 is for the company and it is primary meant to prove that the company is in good rating/standings in the eyes of USCIS. The approved I140 will be with the company and all they do is inform you of the approval etc. It is not necessary for you to change other jobs using AC21.

For those of you celebrating the defeat of Democrats because they sabotaged CIR due to the "path to citizenship" it's time to get real. Conservatives (both Dems and Repubs) are more than comfortable shutting the door to ALL immigrants. Don't fall into the trap of anti-immigrant legislators, don't let them turn this into a wedge issue.
Turning on the undocumented is not what we want to show to the outside, it is a losing proposition and will turn off the public.
As to what to do now, I'm puzzled. CIR is effectively dead in the US House, probably the Senate as well. The voters said loud and clear this week that they want the focus to be on JOBS not anything else like grandiose immigration legislation.
What to do now? Looks like another 2 years tacked on to the wait from my perspective :/
