    iPad 3 - iPad 3D

I could really see that, with the iPhone 3G (it was actually the 3rd phone) and had 3G.

Nah, the iPhone 3G was the second iPhone. The iPhone 3GS was the third.

My take on this is that in order for the iPOD Classic to survive, it needs the larger HDs now available, IOS & a touch screen. Then it would be essentially a tiny iPAD + a large capacity iPOD and I think some people not wanting to carry around such a large device as the iPAD might like that.

Otherwise, if sales are sluggish, they'll have no choice but to euthanize it. Pity, because it's still the only Apple device that many people can fit their ENTIRE music collection on. My iPhone certainly doesn't and doesn't for many people.

Well, let's be real here. It is a shooter. The game is going to mainly entail traversing levels, and shooting the enemies in the way. By nature, it is going to be repetitive. I guess I didn't feel that though, given the variety in the way you go about this; On foot, in a Warthog, in a Falcon, with a Jet Pack, in a Space Ship, with a team, by yourself. I quite liked all the various levels, and the ways the game made available to finish them.

Yes, you are right, but the story itself, in the little I've seen of it is just more of the same, but I have not given up. I'm hoping to get back into it this weekend. :)

i really think is comming out this tuesday i mean a lot of people are reporting problems of stock in a lot of shops around the world and it doesnt make sense that there is a sudden lack of mbps if there is no update commign soon..

Sorry to disagree. My local Best Buy, Amazon, and B&H Photo (where I buy my camera equiptment and a good place to buy computers with no tax and Apple Care for a great price) are all fully stocked. This could be the stores knowing the product life cycle and trying to reduce inventories by ordering less and less with each restock.

I could easily see them releasing after the stock is truly depleted so no one needs to discount to move out old inventory which is probably more profitable at the moment. But, I don't know and can't see any reason at this point to hold off introducing a new computer in fear of compromising iPad sales.

Anyway, the complete lack of any tangible rumors for a 'this Tuesday' release is keeping my expectations low. I am placing the odds, based on nothing, at 1:4 for this Tuesday and 4:5 for the next four Tuesdays. If not this Tuesday I may instead buy a refurb imac. Apple told me that I could return it within 30 days (of placing the order) without a restock fee if I exchange for a higher priced item. It looks like a refurb imac 3.3 and a MB might cost about the same as a high end 15" MBP. Anyway, the wait goes on.

I think that the more, the merrier.

I'd would be cool to keep the hype about the iPod high, including a completely new funcionality in mp3 players. IMHO, it would capitalize more sales to Apple and a whole knew interest in iPods.

Specially now that Microsoft confirmed the Zune...

I will claim that food stamps are mostly abused. I don't have numbers, but I have eyes, and have known several people that have received food stamps. I have had people I know, as well as strangers, ask me if I would buy their food stamps. I wish food stamps were limited with what you could buy, something like the way WIC does.

What a fabulously foolish and ignorant statement.

I've known several people who have died in car accidents therefore most people die in car accidents .

I personally live in the middle of Richmond VA which is filled plenty of lower class African Americans, who I walk by on my way to school every day. And in the last three years no one has offered to sell me food stamps. Therefore no one EVER abuses the food stamp program .

If you can't produce some statistical data than your just making **** up.

Uhm, yeah. Saying "this is not true and that's it" is no different than "this is true and that's it."

That doesn't make it a religion though.

Your best friend may not have been raised by his parents with religion, but the society in which he was raised is influenced by Judeo-Christian values. Even atheists often display Judeo-Christian values because of the effect of society around them.

Don't misunderstand me. I'm not saying we need religion to raise children, but we better have a moral code of some kind to replace it with.

Society isn't based on Judeo-Christian values though. Rather, Judeo-Christian values are based upon society. Religion just fits in with the times. If all religious people read the Bible literally they would stone me on site for being an atheist, they would hate homosexuals. Instead, people pick and choose the parts of the Bible they like based upon their own morality. The Bible has remained the same for 2000 years, yet look at the change in society in just the last 100- women's rights, gay rights, civil rights etc.

You stated earlier that without guidance children would grow up to be selfish and violent. This is quite untrue. As I said earlier some higher primates show morality. Some children would grow up to be violent, but some would not. No amount of religion or lack of religion will change that.

They did show Costco the door and for a long time I did not see any Apple products at my local Costco. Recently, I saw iPod touches but there was a sign that the warranty is provided through Costco and not Apple as Costco is not an authorized dealer.

Anyone complaining about Apple's app approval process has clearly not developed for other mobile devices for the US Carriers. Even with its faults, the App Store is a walk in the park compared to Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon.

    1) All US carriers are very restrictive about what new apps and games they will carry. Even big companies like WB and Disney have had major apps and games turned down. The carrier decks have limited space.

    2) The signing/DRM and uploading process for all carriers can be very arcane, with unclear procedures, long delays for hearing back about the status of content, etc.

    3) US Carriers require an extensive amount of testing on all builds that they are going to sell. Most of the phones on Verizon, for example, require going through the BREW development process, which entails getting the game build for each handset tested by NSTL, at a cost of $700-1000 per build. Verizon does further testing after that, and neither BREW or Verizon offer a full test bed for network features.

    4) European carriers don't do their own testing -- they simply don't guarantee that games and apps will work. As a result, there is a large amount of piracy for apps in the European market, and because devices often aren't tied to a specific carrier/carrier storefront, it's often easier to find the games you want on the pirate sites than it is to buy them.

5)US mobile carriers have very strict content guidelines for most mobile content, including ringtones and graphics. Each carrier has a different content management partner and infrastructure with different procedures.

6)If you plan to submit your game to a US mobile carrier, each carrier will have a list of phones you are required to support, usually about 40 of their better sellers. While this generally includes modern top-of-the-line phones, it also will include some really horrible 4 year old handsets with no features. This has been a big reason for the lack of innovation on the carriers -- it's hard to launch a great new location-aware app if you are required to run it on phones without a GPS, and you can't easily launch a 3D game, since only about 6 or 7 phones will run it, and the other required phones won't.

7)Apple's process puts the onus on the developer to properly test their app, with a minimum of testing on Apple's side. A full test from Apple would cost money, probably hundreds of dollars, and would pretty much eliminate the ability to offer 99 cent apps or free apps. The penalty you pay for insufficient testing is that it may take 3 weeks to get your bug fixes live on the store. Inconvenient, but poetic justice.

    8) The Danger Sidekick app store was a real nightmare. Danger prides itself on the fact that nobody submitting an app can get it approved in less than 3 passes. Most of the reasons they turn down apps have to do with how underpowered and buggy the Danger hardware is. Furthermore, in order to sell anything on that store, you have to cut a deal with Danger as well as the carrier offering the device.

So, all said, the reason mobile developers are so excited about iPhone is that for all its faults, the App Store is a breath of fresh air compared to most carrier marketplaces. It's substantially less restrictive than phone carriers or any of the console manufacturers, the cost to get in is minimal, and the process is quite a bit more transparent.

While the process is not perfect, much of the problems people are having are probably attributable to the sheer volume of submissions every week. They are processing thousands of apps during every 40-hour week with a finite staff; the figure I've heard is that the average app gets 6 minutes of review time, which certainly would account for the few flubs they've made.

Considering the hoops Facebook has probably had to jump through for every other phone they support, Hewett just sounds like a whiner. And a web-based Facebook mobile client is even more of a hassle, take it from someone who had to ensure that a major entertainment company's mobile site worked properly on over 500 handsets. If facebook wants to be everywhere, they will pay a price, and the price on the App Store is pretty reasonable.

Suddenly I am interested in this news.

My father in law's 17" PB just died last night. Apparently leaving dumb bells on the lid is bad for the laptop.

He is going to Turkey for three months at the end of this month and was intending to take the PB and my iSight camera so he can talk with us while he's there. Things have suddenly changed.

Web developers need to use approved open standards and stop using Flash as a crutch. And if by Apple's own image, you mean far superior open standards that are approved by the W3C, then yes!
How is using what's often times necessary a crutch? Trying putting any kind of multimedia on your website or handling reliable file uploads and you'll quickly see why you need Flash to reach the broadest audience. Developers have been shouting to the W3C for years for what we need and HTML5 still doesn't address much of the stuff you'd rely on Flash for.

Sadly, most Flash use is gratuitously used by developers with no html standards based alternative (which is stupid to say the least) so Flash gets a bad rap but when it's done well, it blends right in. There's a reason why Yahoo, Gmail, youtube, vimeo, etc. all use flash.

What Apple WILL end up eventually doing is getting a retina display into the iPad whether it be iPad 3, 4 or whenever it's ready. I don't see Apple jumping on the gimmicky 3D band wagon.

Do a little research on eBay and see how many of these are listed and sold per hour. These cheap Chinese imports are not tracked in overall sales figures of MP3 players. I don't know what kind of market share they have.1) I don't use eBay - but how many iPods are sold there?
    2) How many iPods are sold - through regular outlets - every hour?
    3) iPods are made in China
    4) If you don't even know the market share how do you know they are threatening iPod sales?
