Since it looks like Apple are trying to remove any Google marks on iOS, I'd predict that eventually the youTube app will be replaced with a generic online video app that allows you to search for videos from multiple video sites. That or they will make it a downloadable app.

Here are the questions that remain to be officially answered:

Which voice plans qualify and which don't?

For those using Google Voice, is your own Google Voice number (since GV can be configured to call you) considered landline or mobile? What about the GV passthrough numbers for your non-GV contacts?

So the A-list and rollover minutes essentially became useful only for U.S. landline numbers, correct?

the fine print states it has to be a direct mobile number, so Google Voice probably doesn't qualify

Don't be daft, Samsung are the suppliers because they gave the best price.

Samsung will also be locked into supply contracts anyway, and they interfered with them, Samsung would be in a world of hurt, not just from Apple and litigation, but every other company they supply.

And don't you believe there aren't alternatives for Apples component supplies either - every company that can build something that Samsung already does has been on the phone this week to Apple.

The end result in all of this is that Samsung are putting at risk an $8bn turnover for copying a customers phone design.

Even if Samsung win any of these suits, Samsung will lose the $8bn turnover, and will hand their component rivals the same amount.

The question at the end of the day is whether the Galaxy/Tab/S/S2 are really worth $8bn a year - which they aren't.

So who loses? Samsung every time.

Heres the clue - never sue your customer.

You dont seem to know how much pull Samsung has in the components arena do you?

    They are
    #1 in RAM Memory
    #2 in semiconductor LSI
    #1 in flat panel display
    #1 in rechargeable battery
#2 in mobile phones over all
    #1 in NAND flash memory

$8 billion to a company with revenue generation in excess of $140 billion is chunp change. That is around 4% of total revenue.

Never sue your supplier when your supplier can turn around and gobble up other suppliers and increase the price for all OEM makers, but giving itself the cost effective goods, because it also itself is an OEM maker.

Unlike Apple, who is just a customer, Samsung is BOTH a customer AND a supplier at the same time. Either way, they win.

Quite recently, Samsung attempted to take over Sandisk, the NAND flash memory company. It wasnt successful due to some differences in price offers. That alone tells you that Samsung is willing to strangle hold the market even more than it already has. NAND flash market alone, Samsung has over 30 % of the market all to itself. For RAM memory, it close to 40%.

Apple is barking up the wrong tree.

The bill is said to have bipartisan support, and the proponents have pointed out that it would save the state tens of millions of dollars. Of current topical interest is the fact that the lawmakers supporting the bill are marketing it as a cost-saving measure more than anything else.

It's somewhat sad how people's lives may boil down to a state government looking to save a few dollars. If it will save the money I will support ending it.

Are TV shows and movies already available in HD? I looked but could not find a search engine that isolates HD programming.

Perhaps they have not started making TV shows and HD movies avialable. If not, any idea when? Thanks.

The old guys in the second video are a little mistaken. The "432" badge on the side of the Fairlady has nothing to do with cubic inches. In fact, they were only 2.0L engines (122ci). The "Fairlady Z 432" was simply a special, limited version of the normal Fairlady. The 432 number stood for the "4 valve, 3 carb, 2 cam" specs of the 6-cylinder engine. This is similar to what Oldsmobile did with the 60's 442, which stood for "4-barrel carb, 4-speed trans, dual exhaust". The Z in the video has a more modern RB25 Skyline engine in it, whereas the original Z 432 came with the then-current Skyline S20 2.0L, 6-cylinder engine.

lol I know eh! I didn't want to post that video but I just like how clean that Fairlady looks. I just want that video too. I want to see the Z they were taking about near the end with some crazy horses.

What kind of BMW do you recommend for a young bachelor business guy in a popular downtown location? I was thinking about the 3 series.

Ok, I bought my new Macbook Pro, now I have to do the hardest part: waiting.

Well, I had a question, I got RAM from newegg, but I was wondering if I should run the computer's initial set-up first, or if I should just open up the computer as soon as I get it and switch out the RAM? Is it better to do one than the other?

I loved the keynote. Steve's excitement was palpable - he really believes this is the next big thing. Let's give him a little credit here.

I would be willing to bet the next month will be announcement after announcement of upgrades and updates.

Apple is getting stronger and stronger as a company and that is good for the mac and us.

I'm at a loss for how GV makes any difference in this scenario. If you move to another carrier, you can port your number to that carrier and not lose the number, so how exactly does GV help?

You're aware that GV is NOT a carrier service right? All it does it route calls to the carrier(s) you are using...

But to stay with the same carrier with the same number and upgrade earlier you will pay this advertised price, which just went up. My point is that in order for you to retain the number and not go on contract, GV is one of the best options. Let me fully spell out my two options, as they are right now:

    1) Pay early upgrade pricing to upgrade my 16GB iPhone 3Gs to the 32 GB iPhone 4. This would cost $549 under the new pricing arrangement.

    2) Transfer my number to GV. This part costs $20 once, and AT&T will give me a new number. I suppose that this may also include an activation fee, as well, so I'll give my cost with and without it. This will definitely incur an early termination fee, however, so I will add this in regardless. Then, the price to upgrade to a new phone, while still being able to use the same number would be: $299 + $20 + $175 - $5/month * 18 months = $404 without an activation fee or + $36 = $440 with the largest activation fee.

As you can see, option two is cheaper in both cases. The only difference is that you end up with a different number to call your phone directly, but I'd prefer to route my number through GV anyway, and I could give out my direct line for those that really need it (my wife) and route everything else through GV.

Here's AT&T's support section for activation fees (http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-center/main.jsp?solutionId=52268&t=solutionTab), which actually appear to favor my theory that I would NOT be charged an activation fee. But even if I did, it would be more cheaper than early upgrade pricing if, like me, you started your contract prior to June 2010 when they changed their ETF. Their ETF section is here (http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-center/main.jsp?solutionId=KB92264&t=solutionTab).

Just for the fun of it, I'll run through the calculation for those that purchased the iPhone 4 last June to see if it makes sense for them to upgrade, assuming the prices stay the same and the iPhone comes out in September (Fall which seems to be pretty likely): $299 + $20 + $325 - $10/month * 16 months = $484.

So, either way, it doesn't seem to make much sense to pay the early upgrade prices unless you want to avoid GV.

Apple should simply look at your posts and do the opposite. Success guaranteed.

I don't see your point other than trying to embarrass another user of this forum. Unless Apple is planning on integrating more social aspects into Maps, I don't see why they need to spend resources on this. And given Apple's history with trying to create social products, I don't have much faith in them doing just that. If Apple thinks they can do it better, all the more power to them. But if they are just creating their own Maps because they don't like Google, then I don't see how the users benefit.

I find some pages are designed to be too wide or and some too narrow. If I can control the width of the pages and the fileds, it would be good if it remeber those settings for that page and site.

At the risk of sounding rude, this is exactly the type of thinking that makes those of us who make our living as designers squirm in our chairs. The concept of a user being able to resize elements that we have sized for a particular reason is awful. Yes, of couse there are many poorly designed webpages out there, but that doesn't mean users should have the ability to alter the appearance and layout of any page they want. If a page is designed poorly, write to the webmaster and let him/her know why you think it's poor and how they might fix it. Toying with people's designs is opening a terrible can of worms. Let qualified, educated designers build web pages, and let users view them and critique them if necessary, but don't blur the line. We've all seen what happens when you allow that line to blur (ahem... MySpace!)
