I am also talking to a re-location company and getting quotes to travel back to my home to be prepared for a worst case scenario.

Pending long means do you approximately how much time is considered as long???
I mean pending for 2 years or 5 years or ????
Heard this from our company lawyer .... uscis will issue RFE for all I-485 applications that are pending for a while to make sure the applicant still has the job offer. He got this from a very reliable source. I dont know how true it is...just sharing what I have heard.

I am thinking to moving from Allentown (PA) to Houston. Just wondering if anybody can enlighten me on the challenges that I am likely to face.

RFE issued on May, 11th.
My lawyer has not received a letter yet, but I have kept him in the loop.
I am definitely worried.... fear of the unknown :mad:
Any ideas on what should I expect in the RFE?

Awesome idea....thanks for taking initiative. One minor suggestion, to avoid, spams may be you should lock the free membership...i.e. if someone wants to join the yahoo group, they should send a request, as opposed to join immediately. Just a thought.

One question on the bullet below: Does the calculation assume that all 140K visa numbers can be used towards all pending applications, irrespective of country limits. I thought the country limit is going to make the situation much worse.
If at all USCIS plan it efficiently - one quarter in an year can be used to allocate numbers to retrogressed countries - I am not 100% sure about this, but this is what happened in the July visa fiasco - DOS wanted to maximize utilization and USCIS screwed it up

Ok, how sure is your lawyer about what he is saying?
I know a person who was exactly in this situation. He was given 221g and while he was waiting got his AP approval and he entered US using that. I am not sure what he did is right or wrong, but atleast it worked and he is in US.
I will recommend you to talk to one more attorney. May be murthy/rajeev khanna office?
(BTW, if you agree with that i said, please rate this post as 'approve' using the small scale icon on upper right corner. I am trying to get rid of these red dots which i got for no good reason)

My wife, who has been with me in the US since 2005, re-entered the US (after a vacation in India) on an H4 visa on JAN-18-2008 but the immigration official at the airport wrongly stamped the entry date as JAN-18-2007? The entry date on the passport is also stamped wrongly as JAN-18-2007. How big a deal is this? The expiry date of the visa is stamped correctly as Nov-2009. I read that the place to get this corrected is the US Customs and Border Protection Deferred Inspection Site where she entered (Chicago):

in my case, the local municipal corp in india denied providing non-avaibility certificate. Because my birth is registered and I do have birth cerficate, but instead of wrong date as in your case, in my case the first name is wrong. I had my birth-name on the birth certificate which is not un-common in india. Before I started pre-school, all my cerficates from that point onwards have my current legal name.
I did not specified YES in the column where it asks if you were known by anyother name in 485.
The only glitch is a first-name in birth cert is diff. from my current legal name. the name of parents, date, timing, family name, birth place and everything else is true and correctly mentioned.

I have a friend who filed is 485 on July 24th and he couldn't file for his spouse who was in india at that time.She is coming back on July 30 and planning to file for her I-485.My friend did not receive any receipt and what does he need to do in order to file for her i-485?

This is the way to unnecessarily complicate things. The best thing to do was to wait one more week and file together.....
Now, they have to include a copy of the courier receipt/delivery confirmation etc along with a letter explaining its a secondary I-485 pkg attached to so and so's primary package which was received by USCIS on a particular date.....I suggest writing the letter on a "bright colored paper" so its visible right away to the mailroom people....
