I already took Vonage world phone. I am happy with it. However, I happened to see somewhere in the thread about Lingo offering india calling even through the mobile. That had me give a second thought on switching over to Lingo.
However, when I read the fine print on the lingo site, it mentions you cannot call Mobile phones in India. This catch makes me go crazy. Can some one confirm how are they handling with this constraint. Is that still a good option to switch over vonage to lingo based on this single feature?

Can USCIS stop accepting applications mid month without any notice. From the posts above, it would seem so. Everywhere else, I hear USCIS will accept applications till July 31 (with respect to July bulletin).

I already have called all the members of House Judiciary Committee. Some of them, I called second time last Friday.

I called the department of state, visa's section to enquire about this PIMS verification. They said that KCC handles it. When I called KCC they said they cannot check ahead of time :mad:

Can you look at your I-797 and see if there was an A number (something like A123 456 789) mentioned under the "Beneficiary" box?

Don't know if anyone noticed but Mr. Emilio's statement nowhere indicates any acknowledgement of the hardships caused by the fiasco. If he (and USCIS) knows about "flowers", I am sure USCIS knows about the scramble, hardships and frustration caused by the fiasco. A simple acknowledgement through something like " ....while we regret unintended consequences of following our internal procedures, we have made arrangements to forward the flowers to ..." would have demonstrated leadership or honesty of intent which I guess is in short supply

The requirement for a transit visa to enter the UK is not a new requirement. They were introduced because a significant number of passengers decided to remain in the UK rather than simply transit.
Before they were introduced, passengers had the ability to remain in the UK for up to 24 hours, enter the UK, change airports etc (this is called TWOV or Transit Without Visa and still remains for applicable nationals).
The intent of the Transit Visa is to ensure that the passenger will be accepted by the third country.
There are still issues with passengers who hold transit visas with a stated intention of transitting the UK. Either they are not accepted by the transitting airline and are returned to the point of origin, or they simply claim "political assylum" when they land in the UK and then they become the responsibility of the British Government.
the previous transit visa was a reuqirement for those that wanted to leave the airport...hence the 24 hr period. i have no issue with that- just to clarify. i do appreciate what you point out - that people overstay.
the new avatar of the TV applies even to those that are simply changing gates- ie walking from one plane to another WITHOUT ever setting foot on UK soil. i know this because i have changed planes in LON in the past WITHOUT a transit visa. in some cases as the air india passengers have pointed out, you don't even change planes, you are offloaded and go through security, and then return to the same plane again...hey tell me why i should be harassed and pay 90 bucks X 3 for my family- not to mention traveling 300 miles because "personal appearance"s needed- just to climb back on the plane and continue a journey? how can i seek asylum or overstay without being on UK soil (the intl transit area in any airport before immigration is an intl zone) ?
as for the airline not accepting the passenger onwards, that is something all airlines determine at the point of departure these days, the americans do a pre screen at the airport to ensure no such hassles.

Hi All,
My friend whose PD is Dec 30 2004 - EB2 - Texas got his approval email. But he is already in india and travelling back this Oct 12th.
He already has valid Advanced Parole with him.
He wants to if there are any issues for him to enter at port of entry?
Any documents or print out of approval etc to be carried with him?
Does he needs to tell the office that his GC got approved?
Please help.
no trouble he can simply re-enter on advance parole. no need to carry any proof of approval of GC

I am thinking that we should do something like have IV attorneys look into this PIMS delas and we should may be do another letter campain? (strictly speaking, I know this cannot become an agenda item for IV).
If this trend with PIMS continues (which is what it looks like), sooner or later it may affect a lot of people on H1b month after month who are going for visa stamping. With priority dates retrogressed badly this will become another pain point.
Who in IV do we have to run this by?

It really is amazing how much hot air has been generated on this thread over a well established transit visa requirement.
The reason transit visas are required in the UK is that many passengers with an intention to transit the UK have stayed. The transit visa was introduced as a way of making sure (as much as possible) that the passenger has the intention and the ability to transit the UK and to enter a third country.
The list of nationals that are required to have a visa to transit the UK represents a list of countries where there has been a particular problem with over stayers. It is not race based, but merely an effort to target the problem.
It really does not matter what anyone thinks about the transit visa requirement because it is UK law. Everyone has a choice whether or not to transit the UK. Going back to the original post, to book a ticket without researching visa requirements and then trying to deflect personal responsibility by blaming the visa requirement is ridiculous.
If one doesn't like transit policy of a country, just avoid that transit point, rather than putting curse on that country ( or try changing the policy of that country through democratic means, if one can ).

Let us call rumors as pure rumors, even if they are from individuals here on IV or from aila until the official agency release their report.
Let us step back a bit and analyse it with just common sense.
USCIS and whatever that other agency is, is not a fool to release a july bulletin and make everybody current. If they have made all categories current in the hope that they want to utilize all visa numbers then this is the height of stupidity. If that was their intent, they could have moved dates 2-3 months each month starting july till September.
They should have prepared themselves for the flood of applications starting july 1st, and that is the reason for suspending the premium processing.
Make PD's current and then goingback in just couple of weeks doesn't make sense at all.
If someone has done this in haste then i doubt the overal integrity of this organization and its continuity.
When i started the rumor of possible mid july retrogression, then that was based on the flood of applications that would go by july 2nd week. I am surprised that people are now talking monday or tuesday retrogression and a possible fresh bulleting from USCIS.
Who would know the fresh july bulletin updates from USCIS other than USCIS and why would they leak that information before hand?
Why should we beleive aila?
Do an independent and individual assesment of this issue and go have a beer for the weekend.

The real question is whether 2 files is ok with USCIS. Lawyers are giving different opinion on whether u can do it or not.
If u can file 2 sets, then do ead/ap on one.
They probably won't even look at my wife's 485 for a year. But I *think* that the EAD/ap should be under my wife's. Not sure though. I would like both asap.

These fine gentlemen created and funded (still continuing) organizations that provide on going job related training to inner city kids in Chicago, New York and many large cities so that they become productive American citizens.
Come on Mr. Dobbs, show some character. Don�t just make publicity stances. Change America and provide equal opportunity for all. As a first step just become a mentor of Big Bother & Big Sister organization ( it won�t cost you a penny) and motivate a high school drop out (you may pick up a white kid because everybody knows you do not like other color) to go back to school. Present him on your show and make him as an example of how America is changing to face the challenges of globalization. The Americans are eager to see some character here. If the old practice is a result of correct interpretation of law, why they should change now? This is very high sensitive area; DOS might have not changed their practice without risk analysis. They should not care about how much retrogression in India; They should only care about implementing the law correctly, as becuase they are executive branch of government not legislative branch to worry about retrogression.
