The New York Times reports on an uptick in legal actions against less than honest attorneys who bilk clients needing immigration services. In my two decades in practice, I've come across a number of these cases. But they usually increase in number as people grow more desperate. Are you really sure that your H1B is still valid? My understanding is, only one type of Visa will be issued to a country for an individual, they cancel previously valid visas.

I have a quick question. My I140 got approved in sep'08. Should I have to wait till PD gets current or I can file for I485 and USCIS will process my application according to my PD?
Any responce will be highly appreciated.

It's not unusual for immigrant sports figures in the US to have big followings in their home countries. We got something similar. I have seen other posts in the forums but can't find them now. I would suggest you go for the fingerprints/biometrics and be done with it. Don't give them an excuse to actually implement "if you don't show up, your application will be considered abandoned".

No. OPT means in F1. As long as you register for enough credits, your status continues. The enough credits is determined by your international advisor.

My PD is 09/2002. I have already renewed EAD for 3 times. Still I have been using my H1, not on EAD. Due to lot of expenses, I don't want to renew EAD again. Current EAD is expiring in September. Is that okay? or better renew? Thanks.

Hi all,
Following is a great post regarding how to decorate our properties with custom value pickers that allow you to more easily gain access to an element name. My requirement is to populate the properties in a combo box when the user picks an element using the custom value picker.

My labor is approved in August 2007 and I have approved I140.It is likely that my company might declare chapter 11(bankrupt).I have not yet filed my I1485 yet as dates are not current for my PD.
My question is can I port my I140 to a different company B and extend my H1 based on the approved I140 from company A.
If yes, What documents do I need from company A to get this done.There were some posts which said I cannot port without having my 485 filed and pending approval for 180 days.is this true?
Can someone provide some suggestion what would be good approach.Ofcourse I will talk to a advocate before proceeding but in order for me to request my labor and 140 from my current company, I need to prove it to them that it is possible to port 140 without 485.

If I resign, If my employer cancels my I-140 and use that labor and PD for another person within next 3 months. Can I still use the same priority date if I reach to the I-140 stage in the next 9 months at the new employer?
I have a nice offer from a reputed company but am worried that my current employer (small-time consulting company) would revoke 140 for the purpose of substituting it...Otherwise they have no problem with me but then it is a business for them.
I asked them if it is not illegal/immoral to do that. Their reply was that it is illegal only to sell it and not if it is given away as a favor and they seem to have folks waiting on the sidelines...
I am waiting for that law to ban it but it does not seem to happen...
